The 25th of May Sports and Recreation Center is located in Belgrade. The building was constructed between 1971 and 1973, based on the design by architect Ivan Antić. The project was conceived as a modern sports and recreational complex, featuring indoor and outdoor swimming pools, sports halls, wellness areas, and panoramic views of the river. Antić’s architectural concept was to evoke associations with the angular forms of the Kalemegdan Fortress or with sailboats on the water. This idea was expressed through a horizontally dispersed first floor structure from which twisted, sculptural roofs rise, creating a distinctive and expressive architectural effect. Within this highly recognizable space, there was originally a restaurant where Josip Broz Tito was the first guest. Today, this area has been repurposed for recreation and training, and like the rest of the 25th of May complex, it offers a beautiful view of the Danube River.
